Morning sickness

Some ideas for coping

Nausea and morning sickness can be one of the most difficult symptoms of pregnancy. You can get morning sickness at any time of day, not just in the morning. It will usually start to ease around week 12.

Things to try:

  • Don’t let yourself get hungry. Eat frequent, healthy snacks and small meals
  • Get lots of rest
  • Eat a biscuit or some dry toast before you get up in the morning (if you have someone kind enough to make it for you!)
  • Avoid smells that make you feel ill
  • Try ginger biscuits or ginger tea
  • Wear comfy clothes

If vomiting is constant and you can’t keep anything down, contact your GP or midwife immediately.
